Be aware!

As I live in germany, the actual discussion about PIPA and SOPA, didn’t get through to me that well. Due to the protests, on many sites I use to visit, I finally became aware of this.

Now it seems that the US goverment, or better said the US entertainment industry, live in a total state of angst, believing, that the internet will cut their revenues. Therefore they’d like to have every single bit of postet media observed. And with this, they’re about to kill millions of (micro)blogs (like this inconsiderable one here) and ban them, for linking to unapropriate sites and content.

It’s the vision of a fully controllable internet, with content, that is selected by a small group of people/businesses. For me, this would mark the final step. If this kind of law will spread out over the US borders (many european states are thinking about similar bills) it’s just a small step to a completely monitored medium, where creativity and unreckoned ideas are nippes in the bud.
